Hi, I’m Terri Harris and when I was a golden haired teenager my father gave me the moniker, Valkyrie, because I reminded him of a mythical Norse Warrior Woman. Immediately after I graduated from the University of Illinois, I moved to Scottsdale, AZ vowing to only return to the Chicago area for weddings and funerals. I married my college sweetheart, Bill, and we raised two amazing and talented children. During that time I worked as an Operations Manager for a construction company and retired from there in 2016. With time on my hands I was able to volunteer at my church in several ministries and am currently a member of St. Patrick’s Parish Council. My purpose in life is to make one person smile every day, and I always achieve it. In addition to volunteering, I am also a Facilitator and Administrator for a Catholic Women’s Bible Study Group, Magis Women, a part time job I do from home in the mornings and Zoom Happy Hours with friends in the evenings.
I have been an avid reader all my life and I taught my own children to read before they entered kindergarten because I wanted them to say, “My mother gave me the gift of reading.” My home contains over two thousand books, something my husband has come to accept. Introduction to Creative Non-Fiction is the first writing class I have taken since my college days and I am loving every minute of it. Thanks for reading and join me on valkyriesjourney.
